Just over a week ago we kicked off our awareness, fundraising and training campaigns. I have to admit that I am so immersed in Team in Training that I sometimes speak in shorthand... which inevitably leads to confusion.
So here's the story, in brief: I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I wanted to share Elena's picture and story with you - to give you a sense of why we devote our time and energy... to fund cures.
This year I am completing the NIKE Women's Marathon in honor of Elena and everyone who is battling blood cancers. Last year, for the marathon in Anchorage I wrote the names of survivors and those who have passed from one of the blood cancers on ribbons and attached them to my singlet.
